Picasso

(1881-1973)

The most famous, admired and above all the most talked about painter of the 20th century died in Mougins on April 8th, 1973. He symbolizes the split between Modern Art and the heritage of Renaissance Art. Although of Spanish origin, he made his entire career in Paris and in the South of France. He was a genius in painting. Ever since his adolescence, the touch of his pencil was as confident as that of the great masters of the 19th century.
His love life, which was the stormiest love life of the artists of his century, was always intimately related to his work. His famous words: \"I don?t search, I find\" shows an incredible confidence in himself and his Art. His artistic contribution is also significant in the field of engraving and lithography. It is impossible to quote here his works in this area, as he did several thousands of them. Although an artist with a fabulous life he worked every day for 75 years.
Paintings, collages, sculptures, engravings, all techniques suited him to explore his art. However, it is difficult to talk about Picasso and leave apart some universally acknowledged works such as, \"Les demoiselles d\'Avignon\" (MoMAof New York), or \"Guernica\" (MoMA of New York), or, something even more typical for his genius, the \"T?te de Taureau\" sculpture, which he made from a saddle and some handlebars he found in a trash can. Who else could have taken something from a trash can to a museum ...
