1st edition, a collection whose proofs are much sought-after. Superb work published under the patronage of Pope Clement XI, showing statues of Ancient Rome and modern sculptures of Bernini, Michelangelo, Giambologna, etc., which can be found at the Vatican, the Villa Borghese, in Roma's squares, in various palaces and galleries of Rome, Florence, Versailles, etc. The plates were engraved by C. Randon, Fr. Aquila, Nic. Dorigny, R.V. Auden Aerd, G. B. de Poilly, all of them artists living in Rome. Nicolas Dorigny lived in Rome for 28 years and during this time he engraved many plates after the Great Masters.
